How To Have Healthy Bowel Movement?

One of the signs of keeping a healthy body is having a regular bowel movement. It’s not always a good topic to discuss, but you need to consult with your doctor if you’re having difficult and irregular bowel movements. It is said that your body is only as good as what you eat. But we hasten to add that what and how you take out the waste indicates your state of health as well.

Passing hard or watery stools is telling enough of how well your body metabolizes the food you take and if they are the right kind. A well-balanced diet with the right fiber-rich, protein foods, sugars and carbohydrates determine a healthy bowel movement.

If you are having problems with your bowels, see if the following can correct it. Otherwise, consult your doctor.

Some Tips To Get A Healthy Bowel Movement

Track the time, frequency and quality of your bowel movement and the kinds of food and drinks you took in before each movement. Have a pen and notebook in hand to take note of when you had your bowel movement and whether they’re difficult or not, hard, soft, watery, painful, malodorous, etc. A pattern can emerge and you can cross check that with the foods you take in.

Once you see a pattern and a correlation of the kind of foods you eat every time you had a difficult, watery, painful or smelly bowel movement, then you can start eliminating them or at least minimizing your intake of them. At the other end, every time you have a smooth bowel movement, then you can take in more of the foods behind them. Bear in mind that the right food intake metabolizes into the fuel your body needs with less bowel movements because your body processes less waste.  And when you have to expel waste, it will come regularly, without difficulty and without a smelly odor.

Your body maintains a rhythm and gets accustomed to your eating times and frequency. Have a regular time for your breakfast, lunch and dinner and if you have to break them up into smaller and more frequent intakes, do so with predictable regularity and in the same portions or quantity every time. This way, your body metabolism does its job in a regular fashion with about the same work every time you develop stools and get a regular bowel movement that’s also predictable

Know what foods to eat to maintain a smooth stool passing. Your daily record should already convince you that some foods can make stool passing difficult if not painful. Maintaining a balance with regular fresh fruits and vegetables as well as foods rich in fiber and taking at least 8 glasses of water everyday are advices that sound like a broken record, but they have proven themselves to be effective in ensuring a sound body and a healthy bowel movement.

Exercise is another advice that is often overlooked in today’s busy lifestyle and people often wonder why they are having irregular or difficult bowel movements. Even something as simple as walking a few minutes each day gong to work or jogging in the morning can be a great boost to keeping a healthy bowel movement.

And if the above still give your problems, it’s time to consult your doctor.
